Le Petit Chien

Busy, busy. I made a new miniature, I joined the CDHM forum and DeviantArt...in fact, between this blog, Etsy, Flickr, DA, and now sometimes CDHM, I'm doing quite a lot of work when I put up pictures of new creations!

This is my newest miniature, and I'm more sure of my technique this time than I was with the fox, making for a neater result. I switched to Aleene's Super Thick Tacky Glue, which might actually be a bit TOO thick but is stickier than the fabric glue. The fabric glue seems to be holding the fox together fine, but it was hard to hold the fur in place long enough for it to grip. Not a problem with the Tacky Glue. The one problem is that it dries very quickly, which can also be a plus, but not when it takes me an unexpectedly long time to prepare the hair to press into place!

Like the fox, this little guy (roughly 2" X 2") is made of polymer clay and furred with wool roving. The texture is actually very similar to my real poodle's fur! Someday I might try to make a sculpture of him and fur it with his own hair. In the meantime, he keeps trying to steal this figurine...must be the wool.

The Etsy listing is here.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Hi, world, and welcome to my first blog post! I'm a big fan of the Roald Dahl book Fantastic Mr. Fox, and I'm crazy about the movie of the same name. After seeing the film for the second time, I started working on this little guy. Then once I finished him, I went out and saw the movie for the third time...

He's made of polymer clay and wool roving. If you're interested in buying him, his Etsy listing is here.
